Frequently Asked Questions
Thinking about coming out to the Sarasota Polo Club? Below are answers to our most frequently asked questions. For more information, download our Spectator’s Guide below.
What Should I Wear?
Dress comfortably and for the weather. Head-turning hats are a treasured tradition for the ladies. Remember, you will be walking on grass.
What should I bring?
Chairs are suggested. Bleachers are located at multiple points around the field. Food and drink are welcome and are also available for purchase on-site. 10×10 tents can be used at your tailgate space to provide shade and must be secured properly. Remember, all items must remain behind the safety line.
Are food and drink available for purchase?
We have full bars available to the public. We also host an on-site food truck each week.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are an important part of our polo culture. Well-socialized dogs are welcome on a leash.
What time should I arrive?
You may choose and reserve your fieldside tailgate space by visiting Eventbrite. Our gates open at 10AM and guests often start lining up before that in order to secure their preferred spot. When special events are occurring, we suggest you arrive as early as you can, spaces fill quickly.
Can I save spaces for large groups?
Leaving your vehicle to hold a tailgate space is not permitted. We suggest part of your group arrive early. Another option is to reserve a fieldside tailgate space in advance through Eventbrite.
Is there designated handicapped parking?
No, but most parking spaces are at field level.
Do you play in bad weather?
The match will go on if the field is deemed safe for all athletes by our officials. If inclement weather prevents us from playing, updates will be posted on our website and social media pages.
How can I learn about the sport of polo?
Visit the “About Polo” page on our website. Also check out Sarasota Polo Magazine which you will receive upon admission to the Club. Inside our magazine, basic polo information is outlined.
A safety note
Please always be mindful of what is going on while you are attending polo at the Sarasota Polo Club. Balls may often be mis-hit or unintentionally deflected and accidentally fly into the crowd. The horses can also come over the boards, so always stay behind the white safety line. Please never lose sight of your children, who may wander towards the field. It is up to spectators to be aware of what is happening around them in order to keep the game safe and enjoyable for all.
